Griffen J. Vogelgesang Maurer, 18, was arrested and faces two misdemeanor charges for driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance

An Iowa student has been arrested after he was caught smoking marijuana and watching South Park while driving.

Griffen J. Vogelgesang-Maurer, 18, was pulled over by the Johnson county deputy after criminal complaints about him were made to the sheriff’s Office.

After stopping the man at 7:11am on Monday in Johnson county, Iowa, U.S, police discovered a strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The student admitted he had been smoking the substance recently and handed over a bag of marijuana to police along with a pipe and a grinder.

He was found to show signs of impairment by police who carried out a breath test – which registered a 0.00 BAC – showing no alcohol was present in his system.

Along with standard sobriety tests police concluded that his impairment was due to him being under the influence of marijuana and determined he was too high to be safely driving.

Vogelgesang-Maurer was arrested and taken to Johnson County Jail for two misdemeanors.
