Apple has only just released a new iPhone, but rumours about its next flagship smartphone device, due this autumn, are already rife.
According to respected leakers, cameras on the most expensive iPhone 14 models will stick out like never before, in order to house a 48-megapixel Wide camera.
iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will have a square camera bump on the rear measuring 1.44-inch by 1.5 inch (36.73mm by 38.21mm), according to leaked specs – slightly larger than on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max.
The camera lenses themselves will also protrude outwards by 0.16 inches (4.17mm) on both the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, compared to 0.14 inches (3.6mm) on the iPhone 13 models, according to the leak.
Protruding camera components are unpopular with some smartphone fans, as they require protection from an extra chunky smartphone case to stop them from being damaged.

The leaked specs were posted to Twitter this month by Max Weinbach, a Connecticut-based tech enthusiast and a writer for XDA Developers.
They show blueprints for both the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, including the lengths of the camera bump – the square platform on the top left of the smartphones’ rear that houses the lenses.
The dimensions of the camera bump will be marginally larger on the iPhone 14 Pro Max than the iPhone 14 Pro – by mere fractions of a millimetre, the blueprints show.
Weinbach’s claims were also corroborated by Ming-Chi Kuo, another Apple product predictor based in Taiwan.
Kuo said that the main reason for the larger and more prominent camera bump’ is due to ‘upgrading the rear camera to 48MP [megapixels]’, which will offer a hefty update over the iPhone 13’s 12MP camera system.
One megapixel is equal to one million pixels – the tiny dots that make up a digital photograph on a display screen.
More pixels in an image means more pixels per inch (PPI), resulting in more pixel information, which tends to create a more detailed image (although more megapixels doesn’t necessarily equal better photos).

iPhone 14 is expected to be released this autumn, in four different variations – a standard model, a Mini, Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
The 48MP camera is expected to come with the iPhone Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max (the two more expensive models) but not the standard model or Mini.
According to MacRumors, the 48MP camera system will allow for 8K video recording, offering a significant upgrade 4K video recording capabilities.
Taiwanese research firm TrendForce already predicted back in January that a 48MP primary camera is expected to be introduced to the iPhone 14 Pro series that Apple will release this year, likely in September.
Apple has already recently released a new iPhone this month – the third-generation ‘budget’ iPhone SE starting at £419 in the UK and $429 in the US.
It’s equipped with the Apple A15 Bionic chip, found in the iPhone 13, a 12 megapixel camera, and 5G connectivity.
It also recently released green versions of its iPhone 13, the firm’s current flagship that was originally released in September last year.
Shortly after the green iPhone versions were revealed, rival tech firm Samsung mocked Apple by suggesting they’re a similar shade to its own Galaxy S22 Ultra.
