Is Millie Bobby Brown turning her back on TV? Actress carves out a career as an influencer

Millie Bobby Brown appears to be turning her back on TV roles in favour of launching a career as an influencer, after it was reported she turned down £10 million to star in a Stranger Things spin-off.

Despite being best known for her critically-acclaimed turn as Eleven in the Netflix show, the actress appears to be stepping away from her performing roots in favour of more social media-driven work.

On Wednesday sources claimed that Milly wants to ‘branch out’ into other roles after turning down the Stranger Things spin-off, and it already appears she’s kickstarting a new career with Instagram brand deals.

Along with a slew of artistic and racy social media snaps, Millie, who has 62 million Instagram followers, also has own her vegan beauty line, Florence By Mills, and she recently announced a collaboration with Essentia Water.

Millie has also been eagerly documenting her romance with boyfriend Jake Bongiovi, who is the son of 80s rock legend Jon Bon Jovi.

Launching Florence by Mills in 2019 when she was just 15, Millie collaborated with brand incubator Beach House Group, and the following year acquired a majority stake in the ‘clean’ vegan-friendly brand.

However, she did come under fire in 2019 when fans accused her of faking using skincare products while sharing her ‘beauty routine’ with her followers.

After facing a barrage of comments and criticism from confused fans, she took to Instagram to admit that the video had in fact been faked, explaining that she thought simply ‘replicating’ her own routine was enough to give people an idea of how the products should be used.

In an interview with Allure in 2022, Millie admitted she ‘doesn’t know anything’ about beauty and skincare, but she feels there is a disconnect between her generation and the beauty industry.

She said: ‘That’s why I created this. I’m going to take you on this journey with me, so we can learn more about botanicals, serums, fruit and vegetable extracts, enzymes.

‘Things that are so important for your skin, but we don’t know about because we’re young.’

Since then, Millie has regularly promoted Florence By Mills on Instagram with a range of glamorous snaps.

Earlier this month she also announced she would be collaborating with Essentia Water, telling her followers it is her ‘go-to brand for staying hydrated.’

In the film, she stars as Princess Elodi, who is expected to be married to a Prince, only to find  herself in danger of being sacrificed to a dragon.

She is also appearing in the sci-fi adventure The Electric State, which is being directed by Avengers: Endgame Joe and Anthony Russo.

The film boasts a star-studded cast including Chris Pratt, Stanley Tucci, Brian Cox, Billy Bob Thornton, Giancarlo Esposito, and Anthony Mackie.

In an interview with Seventeen magazine earlier this month, Millie revealed she’s a huge fan of the beloved HBO series The White Lotus and would be open to starring in an upcoming season.

She also credited her family and support system for being able to navigate the perils of becoming a star at such a young age.
