Strictly Come Dancing could return to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom for its special milestone week after Covid thwarted plans for two years, it has been claimed.
Contestants may once again waltz their way across the iconic ballroom floor, after it was recently restored to its former glory, the Mirror reports.
The original wooden dancefloor, which was built in 1894, has undergone a three-week refurbishment and will reopen this weekend.

The ballroom underwent its most extensive restoration last year, when a £1.1 million refurbishment was carried out during lockdown.
Last year, Strictly celebs and their professional partners were unable to perform at the Tower due to fears over coronavirus, which ruled the venue out.
As part of the work, experts were brought in to break down more than 100 layers of lacquer, before the floor was sanded down and resealed.
The work has left an ultra-smooth finish, meaning visitors to the ballroom will be able to glide across the floor, made up of 30,602 individual blocks of oak, mahogany and walnut.

While the next series of Strictly won’t kick off until September, former stars of the BBC show are currently preparing to start the 2022 tour which begins on Thursday.
On Thursday, Nadiya Bychkova cut a glamorous figure as she shared a clip of herself getting ready for the Strictly Come Dancing tour.
The professional dancer, 32, is joining her co-stars on this year’s tour which kicks off in Birmingham.
The TV star, who was partnered with Dan Walker on last year’s series, looked sensational while getting her hair and makeup done to film a tour promo.

Nadiya’s platinum blonde locks were styled into loose waves while she sported a bright red top while chatting to her makeup artist.
The dancer promised great things for Strictly fans who have got tickets for this year’s tour which runs until February 13.
She said: ‘First dress run today. I’m so excited, it’s an amazing show. I think it’s one of the best shows yet.’
It comes after Nadiya was revealed to have parted ways with her fiancé Matija Škarabot, the father of her five-year-old daughter.

Matija, 33, no longer follows Nadiya on Instagram, while Nadiya has not posted about him for seven months.
BBC Breakfast presenter Dan, 44, was said to have become a ‘pillar of strength and support’ for his Strictly dance partner, according to pals.
Sources close to the stunning dancer revealed that she has been confiding in Dan after accepting the fact that her long-distance relationship with Matija was no longer working.
One source told MailOnline: ‘Dan and Nadiya have such a great bond and he has been a pillar of strength and support for her following the breakup with Matija.

‘The bond between them started during Strictly, leaving the cast and crew surprised at how close they became. They were literally inseparable and got on so well and this has continued even now the series is over.’
Another source added: ‘Dan supported Nadiya with everything, including her breakup, which only made their partnership stronger. He even grew close to her mother and daughter, who really enjoyed watching them dance together on Strictly.
‘Dan and Nadiya enjoy a deep and special bond, which has really helped her to get on with her new life following the split.’
TV presenter Dan has been married to wife Sarah for 21 years and has kept his relationship largely out of the spotlight. The couple met at Sheffield University and have three children.

During his stint on Strictly, Sarah showed her support by watching Dan perform from the studio audience.
It has also been reported that Nadiya is being provided with further support from fellow pro dancer Kai Widdrington, 26.
The pro dancer was partnered on Strictly with AJ Odudu, 33, but the couple were forced to pull out of the final after the TV star suffered a foot injury.
AJ and Kai reportedly dated during their time performing together on Strictly but are yet to go public with their romance.
