Is this the worst national anthem performance ever?

A singer has delivered what some have called the worst rendition of a national anthem ever at an international rugby league match between New Zealand and England on Sunday.

American singer Crystal Collins stumbled her way through God Save the Queen before completely losing it during the English and Maori versions of the New Zealand anthem.

‘The anthem was disgraceful, and we are very disappointed by that,’ New Zealand Rugby League CEO Greg Peters told RadioLive.

Social media users were scathing of the singer’s attempt calling it the ‘most hysterical attempt at an anthem ever.’

The looks on the faces of New Zealand players and supporters said it all as they were forced to endure the anthems during the opening minutes of international rugby league’s first official foray into the United States.

The game was played in Denver, Colarado on Saturday evening local time and attracted a crowd of over 19,000 to partially fill out the 76,000 seat Mile High Stadium.

Adding insult to anthem injury, England eventually took out the match 36-18, restoring some pride in their first match since the 2017 World Cup loss to Australia.

Russell Crowe, coowner of South Sydney, was in attendance and the game was broadcast on CBS and Fox Sports.

‘I don’t know how to describe it other than it being an absolute trainwreck,’ Glen Larmer Sky Sports League commentator told 1 News

‘Could be technical, could be she just didn’t learn the words and didn’t know the anthem, or it could be maybe she just freaked out,’ said New Zealand singer Moses Mackay, who sang the anthem at the All Blacks rugby union test over the weekend.

Twitter users were quick to critique the versions of the anthem, though seeing the funny side
