The Israel Defense Forces denied accusations by a Palestinian aid agency that claimed Israel had warned the people of Gaza to evacuate a major hospital and five schools ahead of a potential airstrike. 

The Palestinian Red Crescent issued an ‘urgent notice’ announcing it had received threats from Israeli authorities warning it would bomb Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza and demanded the hospital’s immediate evacuation.’ 

Footage circulating on social media shows some of the 12,000 displaced families taking shelter in what is believed to be Al-Quds Hospital.

Women and children are believed to make up the majority of those displaced at the hospital and can be seen sitting in groups. 

The IDF denied these claims and have consistently emphasized that it does not target hospitals.

The Palestine Red Crescent, an agency founded by Yasser Arafat’s brother, claimed Israel had ‘demanded’ the hospital’s evacuation, and said this would affect more than 400 patients and 12,000 displaced people who have sought ‘safe haven.’

‘We call upon the international community to take immediate and urgent action to prevent another massacre similar to what occurred at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital,’ the statement wrote. 

Media outlets were quick to report Israel’s evacuation warnings. 

Al Jazeera invited a guest on Friday who claimed that the hospital’s director received an urgent call from ‘Israel,’ instructing an immediate evacuation, citing military operation plans in the area.

Israeli, US, and French intelligence have confirmed that the explosion resulted from a failed rocket launched by Hamas, and the IDF confirmed it did not conduct any operations in the area at the time of the impact.
