Issa Rae goes California casual in sweater and jeans as she swings by Soho Warehouse

Issa Rae went California casual in a sweater and jeans when she was spotted out in Los Angeles this week.

The 37-year-old was swinging by the showbiz hot spot Soho Warehouse, one of the latest locations of the private members club Soho House.

She accessorized her ensemble with a blue leather backpack, adding a touch of glitz to the look with a pair of earrings.

The past year has been a busy one for Issa, who lengthened her relationship with WarnerMedia by signing an eight-figure five-year overall deal.

She also saw the end of her star-making HBO show Insecure, which she co-created with Larry Wilmore in addition to playing the lead.

In an interview with Deadline after the finale she said that the aspect of the series that made her proudest was ‘Showcasing regular black people. Making regular black people compelling without some of the tropes and stereotypes that sometimes the industry deems compelling about our lives and our history.’

She added: ‘Also, being able to also be a pipeline for other black creators and creatives and to inspire the industry to take a chance on other stories like this.’

Issa shared: ‘I’m really, really proud of that. The pipeline in particular is something we set out to do but to have such an influence in this way is not something that we pictured us being able to have.’ 

Over the past year she also reached a personal milestone, marrying her longtime boyfriend Louis Diame, who is reportedly a Senegalese businessman.

Issa, whose father is Senegalese and who briefly lived in Dakar herself as a child, married Louis in the South Of France over the summer.

The bride was decked out in a Vera Wang gown when she tied the knot at the Villa Ephrussi De Rothschild in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

‘You know, it was just a beautiful experience,’ she said later. ‘People tell you that it goes by fast and they’re right, you know.’

She explained on The Tamron Hall Show: ‘But my thing was like, it was a party at the end of the day. It was just a big party and it was a lot of fun.’

Issa added: ‘And I’m really blessed. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by people who took the time out to just come and celebrate and that was, you know, that’s something that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.’
