It’s 13th time lucky as Apple offers a new iPhone with analysts predicting a record £87bn Christmas for the tech giant


Apple is poised to reveal the latest model of its iPhone today as it gears up for a record-breaking Christmas.

Speaking from the tech company’s headquarters in California, chief executive Tim Cook and other bosses are expected to unveil the 13th generation of the best-selling handset, with models varying in price.

They may also reveal a revamped version of the Apple Watch with a bigger screen, according to reports.

The Christmas season is Apple’s busiest period, with analysts expecting the firm to pull in a record £87billion in the final three months of the year. 

That would be an increase from £80billion in 2020. Apple is also likely to announce new versions of its Macbook Pro laptops, iPad tablets and Airpod headphones this autumn.

The company’s products have sold well during the pandemic, as families in lockdown have bought kit for work, home schooling and entertainment.

And although 14 years have passed since its launch by Apple’s late founder Steve Jobs, the iPhone remains the most important – accounting for half of sales in 2020.
