It’s a robin white breast! Snapper captures image of rare albino robin after standing stock-still for three hours waiting for the bird to land in garden

  • Little robin with ALL of its red and brown pigment missing is spotted
  • The partial albino is believed to be first one of its kind seen in the UK since 2010
  • Amateur photographer Simon Booker took this shot of the robin in Oxfordshire

Even if you were dreaming of a white Christmas, you’d probably still expect the robin to have a red breast.

But this rare albino bird is bucking the trend.

The little robin was spotted in Goring-On-Thames, Oxfordshire, by amateur photographer Simon Booker.

The partial albino is believed to be the first one of its kind spotted in the UK since 2010. The bird has partial albinism which means all its brown and red pigment is missing

The 56-year-old said he had to stand ‘like a statue’ for three hours to get his photo.

Only one robin in every 30,000 is an albino or partial albino and only a handful of sightings have been recorded in the UK.

Mr Booker, a sales and marketing professional, took the pictures in a private garden after the homeowner asked him to try to photograph the bird earlier this month.

The partial albino is believed to be the first one of its kind spotted in the UK since a bird nicknamed ‘Snowy’ in Surrey in 2010.

Mr Booker managed to entice the bird using mealworms.

The married father-of-three said: ‘It just happened to sit [there] long enough for me to fire off a few shots.

‘I am proud of the photos and I know this is a rare privilege. It’s a great feeling.’

He added: ‘I have become obsessed with wildlife so this was great for me.’
