It’s Emma’s mini-me! TV debut for Emma Thompson’s daughter Gaia Wise as she stars in Silent Witness
With her sweet smile and cropped dark hair, Dame Emma Thompson’s daughter looks every inch the mini-me.
And the resemblance clearly doesn’t end there – as Gaia Wise followed in her mother’s footsteps to make her TV debut this week.
The 22-year-old, whose father is actor Greg Wise, is starring in the latest series of BBC drama Silent Witness.
Dame Emma Thompson’s daughter Gaia Wise bears a striking resemblance to her mother on her TV debut, BBC drama Silent Witness
Emma Thompson looked remarkably similar to her daughter back in 1983, with a similar shot haircut
She plays university student Jo Reynolds whose mother, the controversial health secretary, is assassinated – sparking the interest of forensic pathologists.
Miss Wise, who has appeared in small roles in films such as 2015’s A Walk To Remember, makes her TV debut nearly 40 years after Dame Emma appeared in ITV comedy show Alfresco.
Emma is best known for roles in Love Actually and Nanny McPhee, while Greg is known for Sense and Sensibility where the pair met.
The couple also have a son Tindyebwa Agaba Wise – known as Tindy – whom they adopted in 2003.
The mum and daughter duo appeared together at the ICON Gala last year
The 25th series of Silent Witness, which started on Monday, has also seen the return of Amanda Burton as pathologist Sam Ryan after 18 years.
The 65-year-old actress was the original series lead when the show started in February 1996. She played Sam Ryan for 54 episodes before leaving the programme in 2004.
Emilia Fox replaced her as the show’s lead that year, playing pathologist Nikki Alexander.
Miss Burton previously said being asked to return for the 25th series ‘took me by surprise’.
‘I was invited to come back, which was pretty gorgeous and took me by surprise,’ she told the Radio Times.
‘The team confirmed that it was going to be a very interesting story arc over six episodes, and if I didn’t jump and do it, it would be something I would regret.’
Other members of the Lyell team include David Caves as Jack Hodgson and Genesis Lynea as Simone Tyler.
