‘It’s so good. And it’s moist!’ Kamala Harris chows down on pork chops at the Iowa State Fair

Kamala Harris grilled meat, chowed down on pork chops and cast a corn kernel for herself in a 2020 poll at the Iowa State Fair on Saturday morning, all while a pack of press and supporters chased her around the Des Moines venue.

‘Oh my God. It’s so good. It’s so good. And it’s moist,’ she said as she tore into a pork chop at the Iowa Pork Producers Association’s tent.

The senator who’s most likely to be dressed in a suit than the pale blue jeans, white button down and kicks she had on the fair was the first of several 2020 Democrats to to make her way up and down the main artery of the fairgrounds over the weekend.

Other candidates such as Joe Biden had made their rounds on Thursday and Friday or planned to stop by on Saturday or Sunday.

Her sister Maya and her husband Doug followed along as Iowa power player Sue Divorsky led the California senator in and out of stalls, where Harris sampled fair foods and talked potential voters.

The pork chops that Harris purchased weren’t the only thing that was moist – it was a hot humid 86 degrees Fahrenheit in Des Moines on Saturday and Harris was glistening with sweat before it was all over.

She seemed to be enjoying herself, though, staying at the fair more than an hour after she’d concluded a speech at the ‘Political Soapbox,’ where she told fairgoers that they must fight for American ideals while she ripped into Donald Trump.

‘We’re not going back. We’re not going back,’ she said to applause of Trump’s promise to ‘Make America Great Again.’

Harris fielded questions from reporters, also, telling DailyMail.com that she ‘doesn’t know enough’ about Jeffrey Epstein’s suicide to say whether it warrants a congressional investigation.

Several of her colleagues and competitors for the Democratic nomination had said that morning that they believed there should be a congressional investigation.

She did seem to endorse a push for Walmart to stop selling firearms. But she quickly backtracked and argued that she’d like to see better background checks and has no problem with gun sales, as long as the buyer has been properly vetted.

As she walked about the fair, Harris at one point bumped into competitor and Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan, who was visiting the fair with his family after his soapbox speech.

She greeted him warmly before they went their separate ways. He moved on an ice cream stand, where he treated his son, Brady, 5, to a cold treat, before they were on the move again.

Walking to their next stop, a stall selling corn dogs, Ryan told DailyMail.com that he does support a congressional investigation into Epstein’s suicide.

He questioned how the billionaire accused of sex trafficking could kill himself while he was on suicide watch.

‘I don’t know how a high-profile person like that was able to commit suicide in his jail cell, or however that happened. So we need to definitely look into that for sure,’ he said.

Asked again if he was endorsing a congressional investigation, he said, ‘Yeah, if need be. I’m sure the agencies can do a review, but Congress should provide some oversight.

‘And then also we’ve got to make sure that there’s justice for everybody included in the potential criminal activity.’

A moment later, he was buying Brady a deep fried and battered hot dog on a stick.

Ryan tore pieces off of it, careful not to be caught shoving the oblong object into his mouth on national television. His curly-haired son on the other hand was all to happy to be photographed devouring it.

As they made their way around the fairgrounds, Brady, became the object of fairgoers’s affection, with one Iowan offering him some of her cheese curds.

Other fairgoers were baffled about the crowd asking ‘who is that?’ as the low-polling presidential candidate and his family chatted with future voters.

New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand had also arrived by then. She took her son with her to cast her korn kernel ballot for her favorite candidate. He teased her, and went to cast the vote for Elizabeth Warren.

Gillibrand guided his hand to right place, and he relented, dropping the kernel in the jar representing his mother.

Gillibrand told DailyMail.com after her soapbox speech that she believes Walmart should stop selling firearms.

‘I don’t want them to be selling any military-style weapons, if they do,’ she clarified during a walk-and-talk later.

She said that the sales ban should apply to rapid-fire arms sales and not all guns.
