Ivanka Trump is slammed for her Muslim holiday greeting on Eid al-Adha

Ivanka Trump’s attempt to pay tribute to the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha on social media backfired horribly, as critics were quick to slam the first daughter while reminding her of her father’s anti-Muslim rhetoric and controversial travel ban.

The 37-year-old took to Twitter on Sunday to commemorate the day, writing: ‘Eid Mubarak to Muslims all around the world celebrating Eid al-Adha! Wishing you health, happiness and joy!’ Eid Mubarak, which means ‘Blessed Feast,’ is used as a greeting during Islam’s two high holidays.

Ivanka’s message to those celebrating Eid al-Adha, which started on Saturday evening and ended at sundown on Sunday, was met with immediate backlash, with many dubbing her a hypocrite.

‘From the Administration that brought you the Muslim Ban comes,”Wishing you health, happiness and joy!” As long as you do it somewhere else,’ one person commented.

‘Your father is bigoted against Muslims of all nationalities. Your duplicity is despicable,’ Justin Hendrix tweeted.

‘If you feel this way, encourage your father to end the Muslim ban,’ wrote David Weissman, a former Republican Trump supporter turned Democrat.

Someone else added: ‘Your “I’m the good one” act is so gross.’

One Twitter user shared a GIF of Zach Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) rolling his eyes on Saved by the Bell, writing: ‘I seriously cannot with you.’

And voice actor Charlie Adler tweeted: ‘There seems to be no end to your insensitivity, ignorance &belief that anyone believes anything you or your rancid father & brothers say. Two words Ivanka; #MuslimBan Will you be wishing Mexicans Happy Cinqo de Mayo next year too?’

President Donald Trump issued an executive order travel ban in January 2017, temporarily halting entry into the U.S from people from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen, all of which are Muslim-majority countries.

The White House argued the goal was ‘to protect American people from terrorist attacks by foreign nationals admitted to the United States,’ but the order was labeled Islamophobic and met with high-profile protests and numerous legal challenges.

Trump claimed the media was ‘falsely reporting’ that it was a Muslim ban, insisting it was an issue of national security rather than religious intolerance. However, when he was campaigning for president, he called for banning all Muslims from entering the U.S.

After a lengthy legal battle, the Trump administration released multiple iterations of the travel ban. The third and current version that was upheld by the Supreme Court applies to citizens of Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen.

Ivanka didn’t fare much better on Sunday morning when she tweeted about observing Tisha B’Av, an annual fast day in Judaism.

The mother of three converted to Judaism in 2009 to marry her husband Jared Kushner, and they are raising their children in the Jewish faith.

‘From sundown last night to sundown tonight, Jews around the world observe Tisha B’Av, an annual day of mourning and fast when we remember the destruction of the Temple and other tragedies that have befallen the Jewish people. May all observing experience a meaningful Tisha B’Av,’ she wrote.

Many pointed out that Monday marks two years since the deadly white supremacist ‘Unite the Right’ rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in which neo-Nazi James Fields Jr. slammed his car into a crowd of people and killed anti-racist protester Heather Heyer.

Trump infamously stated that there were ‘very fine people on both sides’ of the white supremacist rally.

In response to Ivanka’s tweet, one person shared a picture from the rally, writing: ‘These are the people that were chanting “Jews will not replace us” in Charlottesville before they killed a peaceful protestor. These are also the people your dad called “very fine people” … Just saying.’

Another person added: ‘Interesting you would tweet this today, being the 2nd anniversary of the “very fine people” (as your daddy calls them…) chanting “jews will not replace us”…’

‘You seemed to have skipped the part in your Jewish education about the Holocaust, the pogroms, Never Again and Never Forget. You are a disgrace to Jews,’ someone else commented.
