‘I’ve been called aggressive, unappealing and scary ‘: Em Rusciano says won’t ‘ignore her anger’

In late May, Em Rusciano faced off against 2DayFM management following a horror week which saw staffers publicly branded her ‘toxic’.

Sensational claims had emerged that several 2DayFM employees quit their jobs after refusing to work with the hot-headed radio personality.

And in a blog post on Monday, the 39-year-old was characteristically unrepentant and insisted that women have a right to express their anger.

In her blog, Em addressed a recent viral news article about a bridezilla named ‘Susan’ who cancelled her wedding and branded the guests ‘c**ts’ because they refused to pay $1,500 to attend.

Reflecting on the story, she wrote: ‘In the past, I’ve been called aggressive, unappealing and scary, so I tried to ignore my anger as to make myself more palatable.

‘But this year, with the uprise of women finally feeling safe to express their honest emotions, I’ve learned how to give myself permission to be p***ed off.’

She continued: ‘Ladies, if you’re feeling like a s**tstorm is brewing, I encourage you to get to know your anger. Acknowledge it, sit with it. Express it in a safe way. Wear it bravely when you feel it. But don’t bottle it up and don’t ignore it.’

In May, the pregnant mother-of-two spoke candidly about her public image and workplace attitude, describing herself as ‘impatient, mean and a b**ch’.

Speaking to comedian Will Anderson on his Wilosophy podcast, Em admitted that her mood could indeed ‘turn’ if she feels taken advantage of.

She revealed: ‘Something just goes in my eyes and I become a different person. So I’m not very good at crescendoing my moods.’

‘I know that there is a perception of me and I’m hyper-aware of it and I think I’m in a self-fulfilling prophesy with that idea of me… is that I’m difficult or that I’m a diva or I’m to work with or I’m just hard work in general,’ Em explained.

She also took aim at the press, describing the media in Sydney as a ‘bunch of c**ts’.

That same month, The Daily Telegraph claimed that ‘several people’ had departed 2DayFM’s Em, Grant & Ed radio show while others were seeking new employment.

A source allegedly said: ‘Things are at breaking point, people just cannot work with her [Em’s] energy. There have been… casualties at the hands of Em Rusciano.’

She continued: 'Ladies, if you're feeling like a s**tstorm is brewing, I encourage you to get to know your anger. Acknowledge it, sit with it. Express it in a safe way. Wear it bravely when you feel it. But don't bottle it up and don't ignore it'

They added: ‘The audio producer is now working on another show, the publicist is refusing to work with her and one of the producers has told the company that they are looking for other work.’

Meanwhile, Em insisted that she isn’t a ‘s**t person’ during her podcast interview with Will.

She did acknowledge, however, that she isn’t always easy to work with.

‘I’m impatient and I’m mean and I’m a b’**ch and I’m not a team player. I’m s**t in a team,’ she said.

Em has two children – Marchella, 16, and Odetta, 11 – with husband Scott Barrow. She is expecting the couple’s first boy.
