Nearly two decades after first reaching the Hot 100 singles charts as one-half of Tenacious D, Jack Black has reached the charts solo.
The 53-year-old singer and actor – who made headlines earlier this month for confirming a 20th Anniversary School of Rock reunion – debuted at 83 on the Hot 100 singles charts for his song Peaches, according to Billboard.
The actor voices Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, with the Peaches song a loving tribute to his beloved Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy).
The song was released on April 7 through Illumination/Nintendo/Back Lot Music (a subsidiary of Universal Pictures), amassing 5.8 million U.S. streams and 6,000 downloads in its first week, through April 13, via data from Luminate.
The song also debuted at #6 on the Digital Song Sales charts, with a music video also released on April 7, directed by Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett.

The music video features Black clad in all green like his animated character Bowser, playing on a peach-colored piano while belting out the tune, gazing at a portrait of Princess Peach next to a bowl of peaches.
As part of Tenacious D, alongside Kyle Gass, Black appeared on the Hot 100 back in 2006 with their hit song from the movie of the same name, The Pick of Destiny, which peaked at 78 on the singles chart.
Tenacious D also has four albums that charted on the Billboard 200 – 2001’s self-titled Tenacious D (#33), 2006’s The Pick of Destiny soundtrack (#8), 2012’s Rize of the Fenix (#4) and 2018’s Post-Apocalypto (#93).
The Pick of Destiny and Rize of the Fenix both hit #1 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart.
Black’s only other solo Billboard entry was Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy with Jason Segel, which reached #45 on the Holiday Digital Song Sales chart in 2010.
The singer-actor recently made headlines for his surprise cameo – alongside singer Lizzo – in the Disney Plus Star Wars series The Mandalorian.
The episode entitled Guns for Hire followed Mando (Pedro Pascal) and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) visiting the opulent Outer Rim planet known as Plazir-15, with Grogu a.k.a. Baby Yoda in tow.
The planet is ruled by the power couple known as The Duchess (Lizzo) and Captain Bombardier (Black).

The Duchess took quite the liking to the adorable Grogu in the episode, with Grogu even using his powers of The Force to help her win an interstellar lawn game similar to bocce ball.
The actor also recently confirmed that there is a planned reunion with the cast of his 2003 comedy School of Rock, which starred a 10-year-old Miranda Cosgrove, Sarah Silverman, Joan Cusack and Mike White.
‘We’re gonna get together and have a 20-year anniversary. We like to jam,’ Black told ET. ‘I’m looking forward to seeing all of the grownups from School of Rock,’ he said.
The actor, 53, marveled at the fact that his once school age co-stars are now full grown adults.
‘All those kids — dig this — they were 10 years old when we made that movie and now they’re all, like, 30,’ he said.
Jack Black is coming off his role as Joseph Stalin in Hulu’s History of the World: Part II and voicing Po in Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight.
He can currently be seen on the big screen as Bowser in the highly-anticipated The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
He will also return as Po in Kung Fu Panda 4 and he’s voicing Claptrap in the highly-anticipated adaptation of the Borderlands video game.
