Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s manager tried to ‘get her a deal with Jenny Craig’

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson once came close to signing up as an ambassador for weight loss program Jenny Craig several years ago.

She said on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday that her manager had told her: ‘If you want to lose weight, let me know and we’ll get you a deal.’

The radio host, 45, didn’t pursue any partnership with Jenny Craig, but admitted she was impressed by the brand’s celebrity endorsements.

She said: ‘They were telling me about the ambassadors for Jenny Craig. There were people on there that I was like, “Oh, that person’s not fat. That’s weird.”

‘Someone like Anna Kournikova was on there.’

Jackie admitted the one thing that kept her from signing up to a diet program was the limitations placed on alcohol.

‘The wine! They’re going to make me get rid of the wine, aren’t they? Just forget it,’ she said.

Jackie’s weight has been up and down over the years.

She once claimed a doctor had told her she was ‘borderline obese’, and was also  fat-shamed by her own father on live radio in 2016.

In August 2018, she was accused of losing 10kg by following unhealthy eating habits.

At the time, she said her daily diet consisted of skipping breakfast, a single avocado for lunch and a low-calorie dinner.

Her on-air admission prompted eating disorder charity The Butterfly Foundation to compare her eating habits to ‘starvation’.

‘If I’d known it was going to blow up like that, then I would have clarified more,’ she later said in response to the criticism.

‘I hated the idea that people thought I was promoting the fact that people should be starving themselves to lose weight.’

Jackie also expressed concern that her daughter, eight-year-old Kitty Henderson, would be impacted by ‘weight loss culture’.

‘I have a daughter and that kind of message concerns me and I would never want to see her do something like that,’ she explained.

Following the backlash, Jackie told listeners: ‘It is not a starvation diet.

‘What I should have clarified is that while I’m doing that [strict diet] on some days, I don’t eat that every single day.’

She continued: ‘If we want pizza, I’ll have pizza. If we, you know, want to go out for phở, I’ll eat that… If I wake up and I’m hungry, I have toast.

‘I don’t stick to that [day on a plate] religiously. But, do you know what? When I do eat an avocado for lunch, I feel good! It makes me feel good.

‘I do believe that on the days when I eat less, I feel better about myself, and I feel healthier. I actually feel sluggish when I eat [heavier foods].

‘I’m not starving myself by any means. And I would never ever endorse that. I don’t want anyone out there starving themselves to lose weight. It’s not about starving yourself.’
