Jadon Sancho has admitted that a combination of working harder and having more self-belief has helped him to rediscover his best form at Manchester United.

After an impressive four-year spell at Borussia Dortmund, Sancho arrived at Old Trafford last summer for £73million, but initially struggled to replicate his Bundesliga displays in England.

In the early part of the season, the 21-year-old was not a guaranteed starter, but he has become a regular in the first XI under Ralf Rangnick in recent times, and he has suggested that cementing his spot in the team has allowed him to find his rhythm.

Jadon Sancho has started to deliver standout performances for Manchester United recently

‘I’ve been playing a lot of football recently,’ he told United’s official website. ‘I guess that’s because I’ve been working a lot harder and believing in myself a lot more and just trying to make things happen.’

The England international has also hailed his teammates and the fans for backing him to come good after a slow start.

‘I’m just happy that my team-mates are believing in me and giving me support, especially when I go one-v-one, and hearing the fans when they cheer me on and are telling me to get at my opponent… I’m delighted with my performances,’ he added.

Sancho’s improvement has been particularly noticeable in February. Having only been directly involved in two goals in his first 23 appearances for the Red Devils, he has registered two goals and two assists in six matches this month.

The winger was somewhere near his best against Leeds on Sunday when he set up goals for Bruno Fernandes and Fred in a 4-2 win for Rangnick’s men at Elland Road.

His performance was praised by former United captain Roy Keane, who claimed that Sancho had started to play with ‘swagger’ once again.

He will hope to build on that eye-catching showing against Watford on Saturday as United look to extend the gap between themselves and Arsenal in the race for fourth place, with the Gunners not in action this weekend.

The 13-time Premier League champions will be trying to put their latest outing against the Hornets behind them, which ended in a 4-1 defeat that turned out to be the final game of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign at the club.
