Jaguars’ Calvin Ridley will wear No. 0 after NFL announces players can wear the number in 2023

Jacksonville Jaguars’ Calvin Ridley will become the first player ever to wear No. 0 jersey as he pounces on the NFL’s new rule change for 2023 season

Calvin Ridley is the first NFL player to announce he will wear the No. 0 on his kersey through the 2023 season.

The NFL announced players could wear the unusual number Tuesday, and minutes later Ridley took to Twitter to reveal his jersey change, in what is sure to be the first of many across the league.

‘Excited to be the first @Jags player to wear zero – shout out to @Jagsequip! #ReadyToWork,’ Ridley wrote.

The Jaguars also then tweeted out an image of Ridley in the jersey, announcing he would be wearing it.

NFL teams voted in favor of Philadelphia’s proposal to allow players to wear No. 0, as is seen in college football.

The former Atlanta Falcons wideout will be playing his first game with the Jags in No. 0 jersey

The approval now also enables punters and kickers to wear a number between 0-49 and 90-99. Previously, they could only wear 1-19.

Ridley has not yet played for Jacksonville despite being acquired by the AFC South champions from Atlanta in November.

He was reinstated by the National Football League following a gambling suspension on March 6.

The former Falcons star last played on October 24, 2021 in a Week 6 Atlanta win in Miami vs. the Dolphins.

Overall, nine rule change proposals were put forth for the NFL’s competition committee to consider.

A 4th & 20 from the kicking team’s own 20-yard-line, instead of an onside kick, also suggested by the Eagles, was among proposals not approved.
