A man has sparked an amusing debate on social media after he listed the ‘traits’ he believed define a ‘typical Aussie girl’ – including Mimco clutches, vodka Cruisers, lychee-flavoured vapes and Dr Martens boots.

Jai McDonald shared a series of now-viral TikTok videos highlighting the stereotypical things he assumed every girl Down Under does or owns, ranging from driving around in a Suzuki Swift to owning a Kathmandu puffer jacket.

In one of his videos, he insisted Mimco clutches, bodycon dresses, adhesive bra cups, Smirnoff Ice and Double Black bottles, ‘gossiping’ and Dr Martens boots defined Australian girls.

He also made the assumption all Aussie girls drinks a bottle of Gossips pink moscato or Passion Pop, wears activewear pants, white sneakers or Converse shoes or use fake eyelash extensions.

His videos have been viewed more than one million times, with some agreeing with many arguing they don’t agree with his so-called list about Aussie girls.

‘Okay this is definitely not Aussie girls… you are wrong,’ one wrote, while another woman said: ‘As an Australian girl, that ain’t me… and thank god.’

One added: ‘I’m proud that I am none of those things,’ while another said: ‘Well according to your videos, I seem to still appear not Australian.’

And another woman agreed, saying: ‘Apparently I ain’t Australian even though I grew up here my whole life.’ 

Some said they have met one of these girls who do or own most of these things, with one saying: ‘They’re either the nicest and most genuine girls you meet or the absolute worst.’

Another said: ‘Or the girls who are so nice to everyone and everyone loves them but they are actually Satan’s spawn,’ while one added: ‘They are literally nice or evil – no in between.’

And one woman said: ‘Hahaha this literally described the majority of the girls that were in my year in high school.’ 

Meanwhile others said they were ‘grateful’ they never became ‘that girl’ because their style was different growing up.
