A Jamaican man has been hospitalised after having a part of his penis bitten off by his neighbour’s dog.

The man, named locally as Neily, had been chatting to his neighbour over her gate in Stony Hill, north of Kingston, Jamaica, when her dog attacked.

He told a Jamaican newspaper that the dog had pushed its nose through the metal bars of the gate and snapped its jaws around his genitals.

He said he was lucky it was not a more severe injury, but that he had still lost a part of his penis.

‘The dog pushed its mouth through the metal because I was standing close to it, and it bit me on my penis,’ he told The Weekend Star.

‘I will not be going near those dogs again.’

The Weekend Star reported that the woman’s dogs are known to be aggressive and attack passers-by.

However this is thought to be the first time they have bitten a person in the genitals.

Neily said he would not be pursuing his neighbour for any compensation, as she helped him get to a nearby hospital where he received care.

The injury, while painful, is not life threatening and he is thought to be ready to return to his job as an odd job handyman shortly.
