James ‘Arg’ Argent belts out a song to dedicated girlfriend Gemma Collins in Malaga

He’s currently on screens as one of ten celebrities who have 12 weeks to train for a relay charity swim across the English Channel on the Channel 4 show Sink Or Swim.

And James ‘Arg’ Argent, 31, appeared keen to let loose after his gruelling challenge, as he enjoyed a raucous night on the town at his pal Elliot Wright’s Malaga restaurant Olivia’s La Cala on Thursday night.

The former TOWIE star danced with a bride-to-be amid her hen celebrations, before hitting the stage to belt out a song dedicated to his girlfriend Gemma Collins, 38.

Showing off his slimmer frame in a blue short-sleeved shirt and white trousers, the reality star appeared to be the life of the party as he enjoyed his time off.

As the night progressed, Arg took to his Instagram account to share footage of attendees partying the night away as The X Factor’s Gary Barker performed.

Arg’s night out comes days after it was reported that he backed out of appearing on the next series of Dancing On Ice, following talks with producers.

He was believed to be joining the hit ITV programme in order to lose weight like his girlfriend Gemma Collins did during the last series.

Arg was apparently ‘desperate’ to take part, but after filling his plate with several projects including Sink Or Swim he has no time to take anything else on.

A source told the Sun: ‘Arg has pulled out of doing Dancing on Ice. He was desperate to do it to lose lots of weight like Gemma did – and they were keen to have him on too as they were looking for big reality star names.

‘But Arg has taken on loads of projects and Sink or Swim has been incredibly challenging for him – he can’t fit anything more in.’

MailOnline has contacted James Argent’s representatives for comment.

It was rumoured earlier this year that Arg would be appearing on the show, however a spokesperson at the time said talks were yet to begin.

James’ decision to pull out of Dancing On Ice comes after his partner Gemma addressed her beau’s weight gain as she claimed it had ruined their sex life and she had feared Arg had developed diabetes.

Gemma was seen telling Arg: ‘I can notice the difference in you. I can get my arms around you now when I cuddle you in bed.

‘And when you love someone it’s not about their size or whatever, but we can’t be as we used to be in the bedroom. We can’t, no offence.’

Gemma added that his weight had left him convinced that he was ill, as he was displaying symptoms of having developed Type 2 diabetes.

‘We did go through a stage where you was urinating a lot through the night and we was concerned Type 2 had set in’, she revealed.

‘So many people are nasty about your weight gain and then obviously people saying you’ve got really fat because you’re with the GC, and it was like I was taking the stick as well.

‘I’m here to support you with it and I’m just so pleased you’re taking it seriously. And it’s very attractive James. I fancy you much more.’

Gemma later added: ‘To be honest he’s like the Arg I first met. He’s active again, I can see his personality coming back.

‘He’s got energy, he’s having a laugh again. He just seems so determined, I love it.’

On his new show Sink Or Swim, Arg – who has since kick-started his fitness journey – is joined by a host of celebrities, including Wes Nelson, Linford Christie, and Simon Webbe, as they train to swim the English Channel in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.

Earlier this year, he was advised to lose 10 stone and 17 inches off his waist after admitting he is ‘on death row’.

A source said: 'He was desperate to do it to lose lots of weight like Gemma did - and they were keen to have him on too as they were looking for big reality star names.'
