His visit back stateside comes after he sold his lavish Brentwood property for $17.1million (£13.6million), according to reports by The Messenger .

It entered the public market at $22million (£17.5million) in February after James and his wife Julia made it available to qualified buyers in October 2022, according to reports .

The married couple, who tied the knot in 2012, originally bought the New England-style property for $9.7million (£8.1million) back in 2017.

The sale came after James moved back to the UK with his wife Julia and their three children – Max, 11, Carey, eight, and Charlotte, four.

The actor and presenter, 44, joined Zoe Ball on Radio 2 on the eve of the last show in the US where he opened up on how he was feeling about wrapping on the programme that’s been a huge part of his life for so many years.

He explained: ‘It’s a strange one, I haven’t really felt like this before. I remember when we did last episode of Gavin and Stacey, I remember sitting with Ruth Jones and crying, but that was done in blocks, we’d film it, go off and then come again.

‘But the Late Late show has been a pretty consistent, it’s been 8 years, tomorrow will be 1,200th show – crazy!’

The TV personality went on to share the pivotal catalyst behind his decision to leave before admitting that he didn’t want to spend the day sobbing about the end but to instead take the time to ‘cherish’ the journey he’d been on.

He said: ‘I feel good about it, I just know in my core its right thing to do for so many personal and professional reasons.’

‘There are people who are getting older in Britain, and we want [our kids]  to experience spending time together.’

Elsewhere this week, James made a very unexpected appearance on the season three premiere of The Kardashians on Thursday.

The former Late Late Show star attended Kendall Jenner ‘s 818 Tequila event where he was seen chatting to Khloe Kardashian.

While talking to Khloe, 38, he got confirmation of her baby son’s name for the first time.

Earlier this year, Khloe welcomed a son via surrogate with ex Tristan Thompson , 32, in a secret and there have been rumours surrounding his name ever since.

He asked her: ‘What else is new in your life?’

The Good American founder: ‘Not much… Oh, I had a baby.’

James suggested that she should name the baby False – as her and Tristan’s daughter, five, is called True.

She then gave the confirmation of what fans already knew, as she confirmed the tot’s name: ‘His name is Tatum. So, Tatum and True. Naming a human is really hard.’

James has been a friend of the Kardashians for several years and had a hand in bringing the famous family back to TV after Keeping Up With The Kardashians ended.

The actor and host is an executive producer for their show through his company Fulwell 73 Productions.

An insider told The Sun: ‘[Kim] saw how everything James touches seems to turn to gold and knew they needed people with fresh ideas on board, so she reached out.’
