James Harden’s tough start to life as a Clipper continued on Wednesday after Los Angeles was defeated 100-93 by the Brooklyn Nets.
The 10-time All-Star – who lost his debut against the Knicks on Monday night – was serenaded with ‘Daryl Morey’ chants from the crowd while shooting a free throw in the first quarter. He then fired a hilarious cross-court pass that landed in the hands of play-by-play commentator Ian Eagle during the second quarter.
‘That’s coming my way! I got it,’ Eagle said on the broadcast. ‘Unbelievable. I could see it from the beginning.
‘That might have been my greatest call in NBA history. I knew it from the second it left his hand… I also have tea all over my lap.”
Harden’s move to Los Angeles came after a tumultuous few months, during which he fought for a trade away from the Philadelphia 76ers and fell out with Morey. ‘Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of,’ Harden said over the summer.
