In the comparison snaps, James showed off his rippling abs and chiselled limbs as he cheekily stuck his tongue out, a stark contrast to the relaxed physique photo taken last year.

He penned: ‘I got bored in lockdown 2 and saw how big I could get. 130kgs ✌️.

‘Lockdown 3 I have gone the other way. Im 8 weeks in and have gone from 122kgs to 113kgs.

‘Ive been training remotely with @altius_pt. Which has been mega, well thought out and programmed exactly. The idea is to get leaner now and then build back up slowly over the coming week.

‘@madeleychloe created my nutritional plan which I have been following to the letter.

‘Its been really fun to have a goal and stick to it. It gives you purpose, routine and discipline. All things we strive on as humans.’

She gave fans an insight into her personal journey and explained she doesn’t always stick to her calorie deficit and that’s why she doesn’t maintain her physique.

She wrote: ‘2017, 4 ish weeks pre shoot, not quite there yet but damn near the finish line. One of many before and afters I have like this spanning the length of 2013-2019.

‘I was recently asked “If you KNOW the science behind it, why not just maintain your physique?” Great question, multiple answers…

‘I do often maintain for a few weeks / months at a time and then 1 of 2 things will happen… 1. I go on holiday. “So? You’re now on 2000kcals, that’s easy to stick to compared to a savage deficit!”

‘Well yea, everything is easy compared to a savage deficit. But do you know what’s even EASIER to stick to than 2000kcals when you’re on holiday? 3000kcals.

‘And guess what? Being lean + a calorie surplus + reduced activity x 2 weeks = body fat regain.

‘Just because you know what you’re doing doesn’t mean you’ll never gain body fat again, ESPECIALLY when you’re lean and your body wants to EAT all the food and STORE all the fat as of YESTERDAY.’

She continued: ‘Don’t believe me, look at the body fat regain of some of the best physique and performance athletes of all time.

‘Nobody ESCAPES basic biology or real life just because they know how to AVOID it. Well, the naturally long and lean can, but the naturally curvy curvies can’t without near constant effort.

‘And a holiday ain’t for effort IMO. 2. The leaner you stay, the less and less likely progressive overload becomes in terms of both performance and hypertrophy.

‘This isn’t a problem if you’re happy with your physique and your training. But if you have PROGRESSIVE training and physique goals?

‘A very good tool in your tool belt is a little body fat regain. I don’t mean get fat as fuck, I mean say goodbye to the shredded abs in your search to get some serious GAINS.

‘And with muscle gain comes fat gain. NOW, don’t misread this, did I NEED to gain this much fat (the left is about 20lbs from the right, let’s be real I could have stopped at 10) NO and neither do you, but sometimes we go a bit too far and guess what?

‘THAT’S OK TOO! This is when the knowledge comes to the fore and 12 weeks later…shredsville 2.0. Again, please don’t read this as a pro yo-yo post, it’s not, it’s a pro real life post ❤️’.
