Jamie Carragher reacts to petition calling for him and Gary Neville to become FIFA commentators

‘Where’s the pen and paper??!!!’ Jamie Carragher reacts to petition calling for him and Sky Sports punditry partner Gary Neville to be commentators on FIFA 22

  • Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have become massively popular on Sky Sports
  • The pair are often found on Monday Night Football as they pick apart the action
  • Now a petition is calling for the foes-turned-friends to commentate on FIFA 22
  • FIFA 21 commentators Derek Rae and Lee Dixon rarely cover the Premier League
  • The petition needs fewer than 150 more signatures to reach its target of 1,000

They’re well known for roasting each other on Sky Sports and Twitter – and now Jamie Carragher has given his backing to a petition calling for him and Gary Neville to be commentators on FIFA 22.

The punditry duo, who are often found adoring fans’ screens on a Monday night to dissect the weekend’s action, have taken centre stage on TV and social media with games behind closed doors this season.

Neville trolled Carragher after Liverpool’s fourth straight loss of the season against Everton last weekend, while the Reds legend posted a very unflattering lookalike of Neville on social media to mark the former Manchester United right back’s 46th birthday.

Now, Paul Atkinson has created a Change.org petition to have the pair beamed into homes around the UK in a completely new way.

The petition reads: ‘Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher are the best two co-commentators and pundits in the game right now.

‘Fans deserve their soundbites and analysis on FIFA games to add to the realism and make it a much more enjoyable experience.

‘The pairing of Martin Tyler and Alan Smith has gone in FIFA 21 and it’s just not the same with Derek Rae and Lee Dixon, particularly as they never do commentary on Premier League games.

‘EA Sports need to do the right thing and get the most beloved duo in the booth and have their dulcet tones on FIFA 22.’

Tyler and Smith were dropped after the 2020 edition and although Rae and Dixon can be heard on the likes for the likes of ESPN and ITV, it seems lots of fans find the prospect of a Carragher-Neville double-act in the gaming world too good to miss out on.

‘Where’s the pen & paper??!!!!’ tweeted Carragher when SPORTbible posted the story.

Fans will still have a while to wait, with the game likely to be released in late September or earlier October.

However, at the time of writing, has more than 850 signatures, less than 150 short of its target.
