Jamie Murray has now decided to defend his mixed doubles title and has made a late entry with former world singles No 1 Victoria Azarenka.

The British doubles No 1 signed up on Tuesday for the event that he has won twice, first playing with Jelena Jankovic in 2007 and then 12 months ago in partnership with Martina Hingis.

Murray had initially chosen to miss the mixed in order to focus on the men’s doubles with Brazilian Bruno Soares.

He was also concerned about protecting his sore knees.

He and Soares have won the Australian and US Opens together and are No 5 seeds in the competition which begins on Wednesday.

Murray’s brother Andy pulled out of Wimbledon at the last minute due to his ongoing issues with his hips.
