Jamie Oliver pans Paleo diet favoured by Pete Evans

 He’s the British chef who famously campaigned to provide healthier lunches for school kids.

And while Jamie Oliver promotes cooking with all natural ingredients, he admits the Paleo diet favoured by Pete Evans ‘is not really my thing’.

Speaking to Herald Sun, the 42-year-old slammed ‘faddy’ diets which cause people to get ‘confused’.

While Jamie wasn’t familiar with Paleo’s biggest Australian proponent, My Kitchen Rules judge Pete, he didn’t like the Paleo diet because it was confusing. 

‘I don’t know Pete or what his values are but I’m caught between two opinions,’ he said.

‘In one sense I hate anything that’s faddy, we get loads of points for just cooking fresh and using a rainbow of items in our meals.’

Jamie added that the rise of ‘faddy and annoying diets’ could be blamed on people demanding them.

‘Paleo is not really my thing. I get that we haven’t changed since caveman times and I get that we were hunter gatherers but to be honest I think that we can get so caught up in diets and fads that we become very confused,’ he said. 

Despite not being a fan of Pete’s diet, Jamie did admit to be a fan of another Aussie culinary sensation – the avocado.

The celebrity chef told News Corp he loves having smashed avo on toast. 

Meanwhile, Jamie’s recipe for the perfect Christmas roast potatoes went viral this month after it was posted on Youtube.  

The father-of-five revealed he uses a flat utensil, such as a potato masher, to squash his roast potatoes once they are cooked. 

 Jamie said the unusual hack made the potatoes crispier on the outside and fluffier in the middle.  

 ‘Once you’ve done this you will never ever ever look back,’ Jamie said.
