Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has been spotted for the first time since the collapse of his restaurant empire.  

Mr Oliver was snapped while going for a stroll in the North London neighbourhood of Highgate sporting a smart collarless shirt. 

The chef announced last month that his restaurant group was to be put into administration, resulting in the closure of 22 restaurants and 1000 people losing their jobs.

The group included chains such as Jamie’s Italian, Jamie Oliver’s Diner and Jamie’s Coffee Lounge. 

He said in a statement at the time he was ‘devastated’ by the announcement. 

‘I appreciate how difficult this is for everyone affected,’ he said. 

He injected £4 million into the company this year, however it was not enough to save the restaurant group from falling into administration. 

Just two weeks ago his final three restaurants were saved from closure, after they were bought up by SSP Group, which owns sandwich shop Upper Crust and cafe chain Ritazza.

All three restaurants – Jamie Oliver’s Diner, Jamie’s Italian and Jamie’s Coffee Lounge -are located at Gatwick Airport.

A Channel 4 documentary will air soon charting to mark the 20th anniversary of Mr Oliver's first programme - The Naked Chef.

The documentary, called 20 Years Of The Naked Chef: Jamie Bares All, will cover the highs and lows of his life and his campaigning over the country's food culture.
