Jamie Redknapp believes Ruben Neves can reach the pinnacle of football, having been mightily impressed by the Wolves star in a 3-0 win over Everton.   

The Portuguese midfielder played a crucial role as the Molineux side made more progress in their late charge towards Champions League football, breezing through Carlo Ancelotti’s side. 

Neves provided the assist for Diogo Jota’s 74th minute goal to wrap up the clash, winning the ball with a strong tackle on Bernard deep in the Wolves half before firing a pinpoint cross-field pass for Jota to take down and smash low into the net.

‘It’s a magnificent pass, he’s a terrific player,’ Redknapp said on Sky Sports. 

‘I’m such a fan of Neves and the way he can just control the midfield. He can defend he can attack, he’s so talented. 

‘He can do it at Wolves but I think he’s going right to the top of the game, it’s effortless for him.’

The win for Wolves brought them within three points of fifth-placed Manchester United ahead of the Old Trafford side’s clash with Southampton on Monday. 

Neves has been central throughout Wolves’s rapid rise, joining from boyhood club Porto with the club still in the Championship back in 2017. 

The talent thrived as Wolves dominated the season, before helping them qualify for the Europa League in their first season back in the top-flight.
