Jane Seymour explains why she doesn’t like Botox

It’s pretty common in Hollywood to get a little nip and tuck here, a little injection there — but Jane Seymour is fairly confident she won’t ever be getting Botox again.

The 67-year-old did try the wrinkle-fighting shots once, two decades ago. But she found the muscle-stiffening agent to stifle her acting abilities. Plus, she said — who is she kidding.

‘I may change my mind, but I’m already 67, what am I trying to pretend? That I’m 30? I don’t want to spend forever obsessing over my looks,’ she told The Cut in a new interview.

Nope: Jane Seymour said she doesn’t like Botox because it froze the muscles in her face

That’s not to say that Jane is a stranger to cosmetic surgery; while she may not be trying to look three decades younger than she actually is, the actress, who famously appeared topless in the 2005 comedy Wedding Crashers, revealed back in 2007 that she underwent a boob job shortly after having children.

She has also admitted to getting some other work done before — specifically her eyes, revealing more than 10 years ago that she had a very ‘minor’ eyelift.

However, when it comes to more regular anti-aging procedures, Jane, who spent many years denying that she’d had surgery, refuses to let a wrinkle-free brow get in the way of her ability to show expression.

‘I tried [Botox] about 20 years ago. I think it’s great for lots of people, but I lost all of my expression,’ she told The Cut.

‘Even if you only get a little Botox, you don’t have enough expression to be an actress. It also gave me a ridge on my forehead.’

In fact, she’s feeling pretty good about the way she looks, even with some wrinkles on her face.

Recently, at age 67, she posed for Playboy for the third time. Clothed for the shoot, Jane thinks she came off looking better in the images than she did for many taken when she was much younger.

‘I thought it was ridiculous. I said, “Are you serious? I’m a 67-year-old woman.” They said they weren’t interested in me being naked, so I went along with it.

‘They took the most beautiful photographs. They are some of the best photographs ever taken of me, better than when I was 20.’

Jane has been counted among the most beautiful women in the world of decades, but she didn’t let any vanity from compliments like those get to her head.

Previously, Jane had shared details of the few times she’d gone under the knife, telling the Daily Mail in 2012 that she was ‘proud of my wrinkles.’

‘They give my face character. As an actress, you mess with that at your peril,’ she said. ‘I think the good thing about my face is it has always been expressive. With Botox that goes — not what you want as an actress.’

She had her eyes done because photographers ‘spent so much time touching up pictures,’ and over 25 years ago she got implants.

‘I’d breastfed my first two children and things weren’t what they had been, she said.

‘I’d never had a big bust — I always say they had to make smaller implants just for me, but I wanted the shape back. Clothes fit and look better. It was a good move.’

As for getting more work, she said, ‘I’ll never say never, but I’ve just filmed a part where I play a grandmother. You need character in your face for that.’

Speaking to The Cut, Jane also discussed her beauty routine, revealing that every morning she exfoliates her face after showering, puts on moisturizer, and spends ten to 15 minutes doing her own make-up. She even did it herself for the Oscars this year.

‘I got ready completely by myself in half an hour. I’m a painter and I love color. Because I paint portraits I know what to look for. I know how to get rid of blue circles under the eyes, I know which bits to accentuate and which bits not to,; she said.
