Japanese game shows reach new levels with slippery stairs

Japanese game shows have hit an entirely new level of human futility in a new competition that sees people try to climb to the top of some oiled-up stairs in order to reach the prize at the top.

It’s hilarious- and really no surprise that some people think robots will eventually take over the planet.

Video shows the precursor to such a future through a biannual quiz show in Japan, specifically, a competition aptly called ‘Slippery Stairs’.

Six players, dressed in brightly coloured latex, are seen climbing on all fours up the greased up staircase.

At the top of the stairs lays a treasure chest for one winner to claim.

Naturally, mayhem occurs, particularly when two players reach the top at the same time, fighting over the chest, which sends them sliding back to the bottom and taking the others out along the way.

No one seems to be getting very far and buckets of grease continue to fall on the staircase throughout the entire show’s duration.

Eventually, however, the contestant dressed in green manages to reach the top, pulling out a piece of paper from the treasure chest to signify that he is the winner.
