Jared Kushner toasts brother-in-law Donald Trump Jr after his book goes No. 1

Jared Kushner is not known as a talkative member of the Trump administration, but he had plenty to say on Wednesday night while toasting his brother-in-law Donald Trump Jr for the success of his new book.

After announcing that Don Jr’s new book reached number one on the New York Times bestseller list, the President’s son-in-law quipped: ‘For one day, and for one hour, we’ll say that they did some real news.’

Don Jr is in the midst of a promotional blitz touting his new book, Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us.

Kushner was seen alongside his smiling brother-in-law and Don Jr’s girlfriend, former Fox News co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle.

They appeared to be at a party held in someone’s apartment in the Washington, DC, area.

The video was posted to the Twitter feed belonging to Sebastian Gorka, a pro-Trump media commentator.

Gorka captioned the video by writing: ‘They’re going mad. But he did it!’

In his toast, Kushner praised Don Jr’s political activism.

‘I’ve seen him and his siblings travel the country and really fall in love with so many of the different things this country has…and the impact that he is having is incredible,’ Kushner said.

‘We are very proud of his book.’

Kushner even offered up a rare, tiny glimpse into his own personal mindset on his family’s move to the nation’s capital to take up posts as senior advisers to the President.

‘For Ivanka and myself, coming down to Washington – it’s been a unique experience,’ he said, referring to his wife, Ivanka Trump.

‘We joke that we don’t get paid for this job but having the friendship of all of you and getting the opportunity to meet all of you makes it an incredibly worthwhile experience.’

Kushner added: ‘So I just want to thank all of you for being here today and for celebrating this book, which is driving people crazy, which is Don’s specialty.’

Don Jr interjects: ‘Hence the title!’

Sean Spicer, the former White House Press Secretary, was also on hand to congratulate the President’s eldest son.

Spicer’s calendar has opened up since he was booted this week from Dancing With The Stars.

The Kushners weren’t the only family members who expressed pride in Don Jr’s new book.

Don Jr’s media tour promoting the book included an explosive appearance on the ABC daytime talk show The View.

The episode featuring the President’s eldest son and his girlfriend Guilfoyle last Thursday was The View’s most watched episode in more than six months.

With all of its insults and yelling, the episode drew in just over three million people, according to the latest Nielsen Media Research data.

The week before Don Jr’s appearance had an average audience of 2.5 million.

Don Jr. was quick to weigh in and claim credit for the ratings success, tweeting on Tuesday: ‘Confirmed, America has been looking for a different View. You’re welcome @TheView’.

The View’s broadcast with Don Jr. was its most watched episode since April 26.

The episode that drew in more viewers six months ago was when Joe Biden appeared on the show after announcing he was running for president in 2020.

Don Jr.’s appearance on The View instantly made headlines after he became embroiled in a number of heated exchanges with the show’s panel.

His father’s on-going impeachment investigation was a hot topic, as was the infamous leaked Access Hollywood tape in which Trump senior was heard bragging about grabbing women ‘by the p****’.

After his appearance on the show, Don Jr. tweeted: ‘I don’t think I’ve enjoyed an interview this much in my life. Guess you could say that I just #Triggered The View!!!’

The panel got fiery when hosts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg accused President Trump of ‘lowering the discourse’ to a ‘horrible level for this country’.

Fellow host Meghan McCain also said President Trump had disrespected veterans.

Behar and Goldberg added that President Trump had also ‘called Mexican’s rapists’ and ‘attacked the handicapped’.

Don Jr. rebutted questions regarding controversies in his father’s history by pointing out contentious moments in certain members of the panel’s pasts.

Speaking on The View, Don Jr. said: ‘We’ve all done things we regret. If we’re talking about bringing the discourse down, Joy, you have worn blackface.’

The outburst drew audible gasps from the audience. The accusation came in reference to video of Behar speaking on The View in 2016 when she admitted to dressing up as what she described as ‘a beautiful African woman’.

Behar repeatedly denied the accusation, saying: ‘No I have not – I have not!’

Goldberg jumped to Behar’s defense, insisting that she was ‘not in blackface.’

‘Being black, I can recognize blackface. This I can say, okay?,’ Goldberg said.

‘Now that you’ve broken this piece of ice, because I guess it is the fight you wanted…are you questioning my character?’ she asked.

Don Jr. hit back: ‘I’m not questioning your character. I’m talking about, you’re questioning my father’s character and I say we all have done and said things.’

During the show, he also defended his decision to tweet the name of the now-famous Ukraine whistle-blower at the center of the impeachment investigation against his father.

‘I didn’t even realize that this thing is some sort of big secret!’ he said.

He agreed to go on the show as part of a promotional tour for his newly released book Triggered.

In the days that followed his appearance, Don Jr. slammed The View panel for not allowing him to talk about the book.
