Jason Statham and Aubrey Plaza recruit Josh Hartnett in Operation Fortune

Jason Statham teams up with Aubrey Plaza and Josh Hartnett in the trailer for Lionsgate’s Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre.

Statham stars as Orson Fortune, who is hired to lead a team including Sarah Fidel (Aubrey Plaza) and JJ Davies (Bugzy Malone) to retrieve a deadly new weapons technology that could change the world in the wrong hands.

They ultimately recruit one of the biggest movie stars in the world – Danny Francesco (Josh Hartnett) – the favorite movie star of billionaire arms dealer Greg Simmonds (Hugh Grant).

The film – which was originally slated for release in early 2022 – will now hit theaters through Lionsgate on March 3.

Director Guy Ritchie reunites with Statham for the first time in over two decades, after he starred in the director’s first two films, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.

The trailer begins with Fortune easily gaining entry to a building, taking out a number of different people, while a voice is heard saying he has, ‘As a private contractor, you possess a unique set of skills.’

Fortune meets up with Fidel waiting in the van, though he complains, ‘You said it was clear,’ and she responds, ‘I said the front was clear.’

‘Front back, right, wrong… anyway, shall we?’ he says, while walking towards the vehicle.

Fortune and Fidel are told about a new job involving Greg Simmonds, as Fortune tells his boss Nathan Jasmine (Cary Elwes), ‘You can’t catch this fish with traditional lures,’ as he suggests they use movie star Danny Francesco.

Nathan wonders how they can get him, but JJ answers that with a few swift keystrokes on his laptop – ‘Blackmail.’

‘Ruse de guerre. Very good, carry on,’ Nathan says before leaving them to their work.

Fortune is seen meeting Francesco on a private jet, telling him he’s his new manager, before he reveals the dirt they have on him – pictures of him with his sister-in-law.

‘I actually love my sister-in-law,’ Danny says, as Orson nods and says, ‘Yes, Danny, you’ve made that quite evident.’

Orson, Sarah and Danny are seen dressed in black-tie formal attire, heading to a party, as they try to calm Danny down, as Sarah says, ‘You’re an actor. Act.’

Greg sees Danny at the party and starts chatting with him, as Danny says his next role is, ‘a mysterious self-made billionaire,’ as Greg realizes, ‘You just described me.’

Greg asks Danny to, ‘shadow me, do whatever I do,’ as the team starts to infiltrate Greg’s lives through tech.

Nathan tells the team that whoever was buying from Greg, ‘was amongst you last night,’ as Nathan insists, ‘I can get inside of them.’

‘I hope you take them to dinner first. Before you get inside of them… sexually,’ Sarah jokes.

The trailer winds down with a number of fast-paced shots, when their operation is jeopardized when Greg recognizes Orson.

‘Orson Fortune, that is a sexy name,’ Greg says, as Danny takes off in a Mustang with Sarah, as Orson thinks the movie star, ‘is going to melt.’

Sarah starts loading a handgun as Danny asks, ‘What are you going to do with that?’

‘I’m going to shoot at them, Danny,’ Sarah says as she starts firing out of the window.

The final shot shows Nathan asking Orson, ‘So you weren’t seen by anyone?’ but Orson confuses him by saying, ‘Yes.’

‘That’s a yes? You weren’t seen by anyone?’ Nathan asks, and Orson responds, ‘Yes,’ as Nathan asks, ‘Or a yes you were seen by someone?’

‘Yes,’ Orson says as Nathan shakes his head as the trailer comes to an end.
