Jaylen Brown agrees the richest deal in NBA history as he puts pen to paper on huge five-year, $304m extension with the Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics have signed Jaylen Brown to a historic five-year, $304million extension according to multiple reports.

Brown, a two-time All-Star, averaged a career-high 26.6 points last season along with 6.9 rebounds per night.

He had previously signed a four-year, $106.3million contract extension in 2019.

His massive pay bump will take effect for the 2024-25 season.

Brown was previously non-committal on his future with the Celtics, telling The Ringer he would stay with Boston ‘as long as I’m needed.’

‘It’s not up to me,’ Brown said. ‘We’ll see how they feel about me over time and I feel about them over time. Hopefully, whatever it is, it makes sense. But I will stay where I’m wanted. I will stay where I’m needed and treated correct.’

The Celtics’ bet on Brown comes after a disappointing end to the postseason – and a summer of roster upheaval afterwards.

After their blowout Game 7 loss to the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Celtics traded Marcus Smart and Grant Williams while also netting Kristaps Porzingis from the Celtics.
