Police found Ramirez-Rivera with strangulation marks to her neck, blunt force trauma to her body, and vaginal cuts.

Rodriguez has not been charged with any sexual offenses.

‘He wanted her to suffer,’ Assistant District Attorney Kathryn Falasca said during a Thursday arraignment hearing, according to the New York Daily News.

Ramirez-Rivera was left on the couple’s bed for two days, authorities said.

‘He left her on the bed that they shared to die.’ Falasca added

It was also stated that the victim had just returned home from the Dominican Republic after going abroad to get plastic surgery.

Rodriguez arrived at the 46th Precinct around 6pm on Wednesday, and told officers that he killed his 21-year-old girlfriend.

He then gave officers permission to search his apartment at Nelson Avenue and Shakespeare Avenue in Morris Heights in the Bronx.

According to News 12, when authorities arrived to the couple’s home they found Ramirez-Rivera’s body in the bathroom.

Police observed the trauma to her neck, leading them to believe that she was strangled.

A medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause cause of death.

Shortly after confessing to the crime, Rodriguez was escorted out of the precinct in handcuffs.

Rodriguez held his head down and covered his face with his hoodie as officers put him in the back of a patrol car.

Neighbors told the New York Daily News that Rodriguez ‘was very jealous,’ didn’t like the way Ramirez-Rivera dressed when she went out and was prone to violence.

Her friend, Andy Rodriguez told the newspaper that ‘she wanted to go back to her apartment and pack her stuff and leave him’.

‘I didn’t expect him to do anything like this,’ he said.

They both worked at bars in the Bronx, according to their neighbors.

Rodriguez has been charged with murder and manslaughter.

Attorney information for Rodriguez wasn’t immediately clear. The investigation is ongoing.
