The computer science class at the school is partly funded by Amazon’s Future Engineer program.

Three Amazon programmers were in the classroom at the time for an event showcasing what the high school juniors have been learning due to Amazon’s funding.

The Amazon employees who organized the event also didn’t know Bezos was going to show up.

The employees were being filmed roaming around answering questions from students when Bezos knocked on the classroom door.

In a video shot by an NBC reporter, the teacher, Ramona Hutchin, could be heard screaming out when she realized it was Bezos.

The students watched on as their excited teacher hugged Bezos.

A student towards the back of the room could be seen looking around and inquiring who Bezos was.

He appeared to shrug and wave his hands after being told it the world’s richest man.

Bezos came up to that same student just moments later and spoke to him about his current coding project.

The student went on to explain his work and earned praise from the billionaire.

His teacher later told the Washingtonian that ‘only about three’ of her 15 students immediately knew who the billionaire was when he walked in.
