Proud mother Jenna Bush Hager has never shied away from celebrating her two daughters on social media – but she also isn’t afraid to joke about funny things that they do.
Most recently, that was her younger child Poppy’s slightly awkward attempt to become a photographer by snapping some pictures of her older sister Mila perched in a floral armchair while wearing a large straw hat.
And – as Jenna, 36, revealed on her Instagram account on Saturday – the three-year-old Annie Leibovitz wannabe started out pretty well, getting two adorable shots of her five-year-old sibling, which their mother was more than happy to share with her followers.

‘Photo by Poppy Hager,’ Jenna captioned the first shot of her daughter, sitting happily in a pink armchair, while wearing a flowery skirt and striped T-shirt, while writing, ‘Another Poppy masterpiece,’ alongside the second snap.
But before any of her followers could start commending the toddler on her photography skills, Jenna added a couple more images from the shoot, revealing that Poppy captured a few failed shots on her way to snapping the more perfectly-posed pictures of her sister.
Sharing an image that captured a vast amount of beige carpet, as well as Mila’s foot, Jenna jokingly wrote: ‘But before you start thinking that [Poppy] is a toddler photographer [prodigy]!’
She then revealed that Poppy had at one point turned the camera on herself, managing to capture a rather awkward selfie that showed the ceiling of the room she was in, and a small amount of forehead at the bottom of the shot.
‘Take a look at this one… selfie?’ the Today correspondent pondered as she shared the funny shot.
The impromptu at-home photoshoot took place just days after Jenna and her family returned from a blissful week spent with her loved ones at the Bush family’s Kennebunkport compound.
Sharing several images from the fun-filled getaway on her Instagram account, Jenna celebrated the fun time she had spent with her nearest and dearest, including her parents, her twin sister, her grandfather, and a few cousins.
‘Back now… but dreamed of Maine last night. Love this place… love these people. What a magical week with the ones I adore,’ she wrote in the caption.

She and her twin sister Barbara can be seen in the first of the six snaps embracing their grandfather H.W., 94.
The former president, sitting in a wheelchair with a blanket on his lap, is smiling in the photo, much like his two granddaughters.
This is the first summer the Bushes have spent in Kennebunkport since the passing of Barbara Bush, George H.W.’s wife and Jenna and Barbara’s grandmother.
The former first lady died in April this year aged 92. She had declined further medical treatment following her admission to the hospital for congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
During their week in Kennebunkport, Jenna, Barbara, Jenna’s husband Henry Chase Hager, 40, their grandfather George H.W., their father George W., 72, and their mother Laura, 71, posed for a group shot with their loved ones, capturing the spirit of their summer together.
Dorothy Bush Koch, George H.W.’s youngest child, her brother Marvin Bush and his wife Margaret Conway, Ashley Bush, the daughter of Neil Bush and Sharon Smith, Georgia Grace ‘Gigi’ Koch, the daughter of Dorothy and Bobby Koch, as well as Charles Walker Bush, Marvin’s son, also appear in the photo.
The family has a tradition of gathering at the compound every summer, and have posed for many group shots immortalizing each of their shared vacations throughout the years.
On Thursday, Jenna also shared a photo taken on the family’s tennis court in Kennebunkport, and a picture of her daughters Mila, five, and Poppy, three, posing behind a head-in-the-hole board at a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream shop.

The two little girls can be seen in the fun snap standing behind a board with an image of a chocolate chip cookie dough pint lid, with their faces in lieu of the brand’s two co-founder’s portraits.

Jenna stood behind her husband with a hand wrapped around his shoulders as all four smiled for the camera.
The family has been making the most of the summer, including Poppy, who recently ate an ice cream sandwich on the beach and enjoyed it so much she ended up covered in the tasty treat.
Jenna took to Instagram Stories on Tuesday afternoon to post an image of her three-year-old daughter eating the melting ice cream sandwich, with ice cream all the way up to her hair.
‘Living her best life,’ Jenna captioned the image, which shows her little girl with vanilla ice cream dripping down her face, hair, hands, and thighs.
Poppy appeared to be chowing down on a Chipwich, a beloved summer treat that consists of vanilla ice cream stuffed between two chocolate chip cookies and covered with more chocolate chips.
In the photo, Poppy’s hair is still wet from playing in the water, and she is wearing a cute navy blue floral one-piece featuring an off-the-shoulder ruffle.
