‘My sister-wife, devoted friend, litigator of all things literally, dog-sweater-wearing, enthusiastic partier until 9 P.M. turns 5-0 today,’ Jenna wrote.

‘@SavannahGuthrie deserves to be celebrated for her dedication to her family and friends, her loyal heart, and her relentless faith.

‘Sometimes life surprises you with a dear friend who loves you for all of you — what a wonder it is to be in your glow SG.’

Although the morning show was what ultimately brought the two women together, Savannah and Jenna met years earlier when Savannah was assigned to cover Jenna’s wedding to Henry Hager.

‘Ten years ago, when she got married to Henry, I was a fourth string White House reporter and they assigned me to go cover her wedding,’ she previously told People.

The ladies became so close that in 2019, Jenna even chose Savannah to be her son, Henry Harold 'Hal' Hager's godmother

‘It’s hilarious, because there are live shots of me talking about Jenna getting married. Isn’t it beautiful and delightful, the turns that life takes?

‘Here I was, just a reporter, trying to find out anything about the wedding. Ten years later, she’s one of my closest friends.’

And when Jenna’s grandfather, George H.W. Bush, passed away in 2018, Savannah was by her side at the funeral – and she even stepped in and helped her deliver her speech after Jenna became too emotional to speak.

‘I stood up in front of this church that we go to, and I just lost it,’ Jenna recalled during an interview with E!’s Jason Kennedy on Instagram Live last year.

‘I couldn’t read. I was shaking so hard, sobbing so much that Savannah had to step in.

‘That’s what a really beautiful friend does, they step in when you have lost your voice.’

Now, they are co-workers, neighbors, and best friends – and their kids are close too.

‘Through the show, having our kids at the same time and being neighbors, we just became really close friends,’ Savannah said in another interview with People.
