Jennifer Aniston is said to have split her luxury Los Angeles mansion into separate living quarters during her marriage woes with Justin Theroux.
MailOnline can exclusively report the former Friends actress, 49, started renovation work on the $21 million Bel Air after they married in August 2015 to create separate ‘his n hers’ living quarters.
Before then, Theroux, 46, spent the majority of his time on his native East Coast – with claims that a disagreement about where to live was the main cause of their split.

Whilst it was previously reported that the actor would use the guest house on the side of the house as a ‘man cave’ – the split ran far deeper than that.
Jennifer’s renovated home included separate bathrooms on opposites sides of her huge compound, as seen in MailOnline’s exclusive images. One bathroom came complete with a stunning outdoor bath, chill out area and trees.
The other was equally spectacularly with an antique-looking oval bath, and sliding glass doors leading to an outdoor palm garden complete with it’s own pebble lake.
End of an era: Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux announced their ‘separation’ earlier this week, in a joint statement. They said: ‘ This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends’

They’d also constructed two separate garage areas, so that he had space for his bikes and sports cars on one side of the house – and Aniston transformed hers into a huge 2,000 square foot closet, as revealed in MailOnline’s pictures.
Wanderlust star Theroux admitted that his wife had so many outfits that they had to renovate one of the garages into an ‘apartment-style’ walk-in wardrobe at an estimated $60,000 cost.
Theroux also had noise issues to contend with, as right next to his supposed ‘man cave’, there was a huge noisy chicken shed and masses of building work going on around him.

The property, which sits on the Santa Monica Mountains and overlooks the Pacific Ocean, also had it’s fair share of noise issues.
It overlooks the world’s most expensive house, costing $500 million, which has been under construction for the last five years to complete the pad, which boasts 20 bedrooms, 30 bathrooms, a gym, 40-seat cinema, cigar lounge, its own hair and nail salon, five pools, casino and nightclub.

It has been claimed that a disagreement about where to live was the main cause of their split, with Jennifer preferring Los Angeles, while Justin opting for New York.
The two also kept their properties separate when they married. According to property records obtained by The Blast, Jennifer and Justin kept the deeds to their residences in their own names and as their ‘sole and separate property.’
In the eyes of the law, property acquired as a couple becomes community property but as the Cake actress already owned her 1965 Bel Air mansion – where she and Justin tied the knot – and her two-bedroom Hollywood Hills property, and the Leftovers star had his New York apartment in Greenwich village before they wed, and the deeds were never altered, it won’t be an issue.

When it comes to finances, both stars had made most of their money before they got together, with Jennifer’s hefty pay day from Friends and Justin’s work on Tropic Thunder secured and not up for grabs during any potential settlement deals.
But it has since emerged that there is no evidence a legal ceremony ever took place. TMZ checked records in Los Angeles county as far back as 2010 and found no record of their marriage licence. The pair did not opt for a confidential marriage licence.
While it is possible that Jennifer, 49 and Justin, 46, filed their paperwork in a different county in Los Angeles, sources close to the pair insist this is not the case.
The pair announced their ‘separation’ earlier this week, in a joint statement. They said: ‘In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation. This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.’
