Jennifer Hawkins and Jake Wall forced to amend their $3million reno plans after neighbour complaints

Jennifer Hawkins and Jake Wall are forced to adjust $3million home renovation plans on their beach mansion in Sydney – after neighbours complain about one major detail

Jennifer Hawkins and her husband Jake Wall have been forced to amend their $3million renovation plans on their mammoth northern beaches home in Sydney.

The couple, who snapped up the $6.9million mansion in September 2020, received several complaints about the proposed height of their trees – with panicked neighbours believing their enviable ocean views would be jeopardised.

According to realestate.com.au, the pair’s landscaper, Michael Cooke, has since had to replace a number of towering trees with smaller ones to try and keep the couple’s wealthy neighbours happy.

This means the couple’s proposed Christmas Bush and Grey Myrtle plants have been dumped in favour of Grevillea ‘Moonlight’ and Crimson Bottlebrush.

The 1950s property, once owned by the late opera singer Dame Joan Sutherland, already boasts a tennis court, outdoor pool and spectacular views of the ocean.

Australian model turned property developer Jennifer, 37, first entered the real estate market in 2006, two years after she was crowned Miss Universe.

In August last year, herself and Jake sold their Newport mansion for a record-breaking $24.5million, to Atlassian co-founder Mike Cannon-Brookes.

The couple had built the property on land they’d purchased for $4million in 2014.

However, Jennifer has always been adamant that she and her partner are not ‘property flippers’, and firmly explained so in an interview with David ‘Kochie’ Koch on Sunrise in 2020.

After three minutes of chatting to the host, Jennifer suddenly snapped at Kochie over his introduction speech.

‘You said we flipped! We did not flip our house,’ Jennifer firmly said, pointing her finger at Kochie while opening her eyes wide.

Taken aback, Kochie exclaimed: ‘Oh! You two are property moguls though! You’re doing so well.’

Jennifer, who had broken into a very awkward laugh, replied: ‘No, no… thank you.’

She proceeded to explain why she and her construction company owner husband are nothing like ‘flippers’ – a term describing people who buy and quickly resell properties for the purpose of generating profit.

The glamazon explained that she and Jake simply sold their $24million Newport mansion in June, because they ‘just wanted to move on’ with their life.

‘It’s weird. You build a house for that time of your life, and then you want to move on,’ she said.
