Jennifer Lawrence Red Sparrow co-stars London photocall

At first glance, the pictures show Jennifer Lawrence looking stunning in a plunging Versace dress alongside her Red Sparrow co-stars.

But eagle-eyed fans have noticed something unusual about the photocall of the casts of the new spy thriller film.

Joel Edgerton, Jeremy Irons, Matthias Schoenaerts and director Francis Lawrence were all rugged up with multiple layers of clothing against the freezing temperature of 3-9C in London.

Meanwhile, the Oscar-winning actress seemed to miss the mark with her eye-catching ensemble with a daring high split.

The male castmates dressed accordingly, covering up with shirts, boots, jumpers and buttoned-up overcoats on the balcony of London’s Corinthia Hotel.

But the blonde beauty – who sported a smouldering eye-shadow – chose a figure-hugging dress with embellished straps.

The photograph of the castmates has since divided the internet, with confused fans questioning why the 27-year-old didn’t opt for a coat for the shoot.

Many concerned people pointed out the photo seemed to highlight the differences in how men and women are treated in Hollywood.

‘This is such a quietly depressing (and revealing) image. Not least because I’ve been outside today and it’s bloody freezing,’ Helen Lewis tweeted.

Sara Tasker said: ‘#CoatsForWomen! (& a good pair of tights).’

Elizabeth Pears wrote: ‘Did the topic of a coat ever come up?’

Kris chimed in: ‘Did producers provide those coasts to the other cast members? Or did she just not want to wear a coat? I don’t understand the issue?’

Dummbieboy wrote: ‘And just because she’s a woman she has to show skin and that gets dollars rolling in? Wow so much equality and non-oppression.

Lola Whiffen posted: ‘They look embarrassed for her because I’m sure she can afford to buy a coat. I’m sure she knew what the weather was like before she walked out the door. Seriously.’

And Savvy Cat said: ‘She gets to wear Versace for free. In return she models it. Yeah she’s outside. Yeah she’s probably cold but all of us have aspects of our jobs we don’t like. I’m not losing sleep over it. There are worse jobs.’
