Jesinta Franklin made a heartwarming tribute to the Matildas on Thursday after their devastating 3-1 loss to England during the Women’s World Cup semi-finals.

The AFL WAG, 32, posted an image to Instagram of Sam Kerr taking a goal against three defenders before penning a lengthy caption.

Praising the Tillies admirable fight into the World Cup, the former Miss Universe Australia reminded her followers that winning isn’t everything in sports.

‘The power of sport will always be greater than a trophy. The Matildas’ journey has been incredible,’ she wrote.

‘Also such a poignant reminder that sport isn’t always about winning. Sport, in my opinion has always been bigger than that even though it’s seen as the ultimate goal or sign of success.’

Jesinta is no stranger to the highs and lows of Australian sports as the wife of former AFL star Buddy Franklin.

The Sydney Swans player, 36, just said goodbye to his $10million contract with the team to focus on raising his two kids Tullulah, two, and Rocky, one, with Jesinta.

Thanks to their combined earnings, the Franklins were able to purchase a $9million mansion on the Gold Coast dubbed ‘Villa Casa’ by Jesinta.

The house, which was on the market for just six days before the Franklins snapped it up, boasts seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms and sweeping views of the city.
