New mum Jessica Mauboy was all smiles on Tuesday as she arrived at the KIIS FM radio studios in Sydney, a week after announcing the birth of her first child.

The Australian singer, 35, welcomed newborn daughter Mia with husband Themeli Magriplis on January 13, but kept her arrival secret until a recent interview.

The mother-of-one made her first public appearance since the announcement and was spotted preparing for an interview on The Kyle and Jackie Show.

Jessica opted for a very chic business casual look, wearing a beige blazer paired with cream linen slacks and a white tank top with a low-cut neckline.

She completed the outfit with strappy sandals and chunky gold earrings, and hid her eyes behind a pair of aviator sunglasses.

The hitmaker finished off her look by carrying a black handbag and pulled her brunette tresses back into a low ponytail.

Jessica confirmed the birth of her first baby to Stellar magazine, revealing she and her partner named her Mia.  

She explained Mia was born in January, but the proud parents kept her arrival away from the glare of social media to give friends and family the chance to meet her first.

While the singer has yet to reveal images of her newborn she did admit motherhood had been a ‘rollercoaster’.   

‘It has been a bit of a rollercoaster but a magical one, she told the publication. ‘I’m making up lots of lullabies for her,’ she said.

Jessica joked while she can definitely see herself in her daughter, she was worried Mia might pick up some of her more negative traits.   

‘I look at her and it’s, “Whoa!” because I see myself, that little frown,’ she said.

‘I’m not sure I want her to have my personality, because it’s rough and it’s tough.  She’s constantly changing every day, another little roll, another crease.’

Jessica said she wanted to keep Mia’s arrival private so she would be able to enjoy ‘precious moments’ with her growing family.

‘Am I going to be a good mum? I wanted to hold space for myself, to be patient and give as much love and kindness to myself as my body was changing,’ she said.

‘Like making a record, you have got to put yourself out there eventually, but it was about having these precious moments with her seen by myself.’

Jessica delighted fans in September after it was announced she was five months pregnant with her first child.

She was spotted attempting to hide her growing baby bump under a thick patterned overcoat as she strolled through Sydney Airport.

The Darwin-born performer tried to go incognito under the baggy multi-coloured coat, which concealed her growing belly.
