Jessica Rowe and her young daughter narrowly escape car fire

Heart-stopping moment Jessica Rowe and her teenage daughter narrowly escape horror car fire as their Volvo SUV suddenly bursts into flames during the school run

TV star Jessica Rowe and her teenage daughter are traumatised but unhurt after fleeing their car as it suddenly burst into flames.

Rowe was picking up 14-year-old daughter Allegra from school in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on Thursday afternoon when the black Volvo XC 60 began billowing smoke on New South Head Rd in Rose Bay.

A passing bus driver named Miev flagged the vehicle down and helped them get out of the car and to safety before the car burst into flames.

‘He got the everyone to move away from the footpath, directed traffic, rang the fire brigade and then drove them all home,’  Rowe’s manager David Wilson told the Wentworth Courier.

‘There’s no hospitalisation or anything like that involved, but both are really rattled as you would be,’ Mr Wilson said.

Rowe’s husband, Nine News presenter Peter Overton has since spoken to his wife and daughter, who are shaken but okay.

‘Everyone at work could see that I was absolutely traumatised when I saw my 14-year-old on FaceTime absolutely inconsolable,’ he told 2GB.

‘I saw in the background the car ablaze.’

More to come.
