Jessica Rowe has written a letter to her 16-year-old self, as she hopes to inspire younger girls that life does get better. 

The Australian journalist, 52, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share her wisdom, as she promoted a new coming of age movie called Sweet As. 

While the clip was full of some thought-provoking points, she also hilariously told her younger self that she will ‘kiss a lot of frogs’ throughout her life. 

Starting off the video as she shared an adorable throwback snap of herself as a teenager, Jess said: ‘A letter to my 16-year-old self.

‘My darling girl life will change, it’s not going to stay the same, even though you feel stuck.

‘Your terrible skin, it will clear up, I promise you that. 

‘It doesn’t matter that you don’t understand physics, you’re never going to understand it, and it is very boring.

‘No one is going to ask you about the marks you got at school, it doesn’t matter.

‘You are going to travel, you are going to spread your wings and have the most extraordinary adventures.’ 

While the media personality’s points were mainly positive, she did tell her younger self that her dream of becoming a foreign correspondent doesn’t come true. 

She continued: ‘You won’t be a foreign correspondent, but there will be some pretty exciting things that happen for you. 

‘You are going to kiss a lot of frogs, they are going to break your heart but you are going to find the right person for you. 

‘And chase a life my darling girl full of joy.’

Ending on a humorous note, Jess said: ‘And, you are still going to be a crazy cat lady.’

Many of the journalist’s 180k Instagram followers expressed that they were emotional after watching the video. 

One person wrote: ‘That made me cry and laugh – I think we all can relate to this. Chase joy – sums it up beautifully.’

While the self-confessed ‘crazy cat lady’ never became a foreign correspondent, she had a successful career as a presenter on Channel 10’s Studio 10 and later became a best-selling author and mental health advocate. 

In 2004, Jess married fellow broadcaster Peter Overton and they share two children together, Allegra, 16, and Giselle, 13.
