Jigsaw could be poised to go upmarket after receiving a £27m offer from a little known retail investor. 

Even before the pandemic struck, the brand, beloved by the Duchess of Cambridge who once worked in one of its stores, was struggling under the ownership of Carphone Warehouse founder and Tory donor David Ross. 

Now Henrik Madsen, who was formerly the managing director of designer outlet owner McArthurGlen, has tabled an offer, The Sunday Times reported.

Madsen hopes to invest online, expand the company’s licensing arm and attempt to elevate the brand to escape from the fiercely competitive mid-market fashion sector. 

Jigsaw has had a chaotic two years. Ross cleared out the boardroom and last year the brand was forced to close half its 80-odd stores.
