Jillian Harris of Love It Or List It is pregnant with second child but says she has ‘depression’

Jillian Harris is three months pregnant with her second child.

The former Bachelor and Bachelorette star made the announcement on Instagram on Thursday. She and fiance Justin Pasutto already have son Leo, aged one.

But the 38-year-old beauty, who stars on Love It Or List It, told the Today show that its being pregnant for a second time has been difficult as she has been feeling sick and suffering from depression.

Soon to have one more: Jillian Harris is three months pregnant with her second child. The former Bachelor and Bachelorette star made the announcement on Instagram on Thursday

‘Pregnancy is supposed to be such a happy time … but I was just so exhausted and sick that I wasn’t happy,’ she told Today. ‘It felt good to be able to say that.’

The star has said she feels ‘useless’ and is not enjoying herself.

She added there is ‘mental health issues’ in the family and is worried it could be carrying over to her. The TV star said she was ‘down on herself’ and felt like a ‘failure as a mom, a fiance and a friend.’

In a heartfelt video she breaks the news to her family and they are ecstatic.

She also said she thinks she is pregnant with a girl.

‘My pregnancy with Leo was a breeze,’ the star told Today.

‘Women would say, “How do you feel?” And I would say, “I feel wonderful!” And they would say, “Oh my gosh, you’re so lucky.” And I would think, “What’s the alternative?” And now I know.’

She had felt ‘moody, unable to eat and exhausted,’ often sleeping 10 hours a day.

‘I was just so physically ill, and my body felt like it was shutting down,’ she said. ‘I wasn’t able to do anything I usually do. I felt so useless. Justin noticed it. At one point, he was like, “I know you’re struggling but if there is any way you could give me an indication that you’re happy, I would love to just see you smile.” I looked at him and just started crying.’

Because Harris’ mother is bipolar, she worried she would have mental health challenges too.

‘I wasn’t doing laundry. I wasn’t showering. I wasn’t doing anything. I wanted to be a good mom to Leo and I wanted to take care of the baby inside of me and I could barely do that,’ she said.

But now that she is three months along, she is feeling better.

‘I kept praying it would pass and I’m so grateful that it has,’ Harris said. ‘But there are women who experience these emotions their entire pregnancy.’

Depression during pregnancy is called perinatal depression.

She is best known for appearing on the television series The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and Love It or List It Vancouver. She has also appeared on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Canada’s Handyman Challenge, and The Bachelorette Canada.
