Aston Merrygold has revealed that Oritse Williams is back making music, and that JLS could make a comeback.

The star, 32, was cleared in May last year of raping a woman in his hotel room in Wolverhampton following a solo concert in December 2016.

‘He’s back in music, he’s been writing, he’s been spilling his soul,’ Aston, one of the four man group JLS, told The Sun.

Cleared: Oritse Williams, 32, was cleared in May last year of raping a woman in his hotel room in Wolverhampton in December 2016 and is now making music again

The 31-year-old singer added that Oritse could even be back in the mainstream with new music soon.

He said: ‘He’s probably been writing some of the best music he’s done and he’s ready to get back into the commercial industry and show that.’

And asked if he would appear on any of his songs, Aston said: ‘We’re always collaborating, all of us.’

Oritse’s former bandmates stood with him throughout the rape accusation and acquittal and JB Gill appeared on Lorraine in August to say the ordeal was ‘tough’ for him.

‘It was a tough ordeal for [Oritsé]. We were just there for him,’ he said.

‘We didn’t know the ins and outs of everything that happened and you have to respect that.

‘He’s come out the other end and he’s in a good mental space. That has been a profound impact and, professionally speaking, it’s had an impact on him.’

The star has had a trying 2019, with his six-bedroom home ravaged by fire, with around 70 firefighters called to tackle the huge blaze in June.

An arson probe was launched into the blaze, which destroyed the house.

Williams bought the home for £3million with his then-girlfriend AJ Azari in 2013. Five years later he put it on the market at a knock-down price of £1.75million after he was charged with rape.

The lavish property, in Croydon, south London, was once owned by legendary late comedian Ronnie Corbett but fell into a state of disrepair after it was sold to Williams.

It features a hot tub in the bedroom, outdoor swimming pool and a ping pong table.
