Jock Zonfrillo’s widow Lauren Fried reveals how she is coping a month after his death

Lauren Fried has shared how she is coping with the loss of her husband Jock Zonfrillo.

The MasterChef Australia judge, who died on May 1 aged 46, left behind a number of finished or nearly finished projects, and in a post to Jock’s Instagram on Sunday, his widow wondered if it would be appropriate to release them to the public.

She also shared how her grief was still raw a month after Jock’s sudden and tragic passing.

‘It’s been a month since we lost Jock, and I put a line in the sand thinking that at the one month mark, I would turn some sort of a corner. Obviously that hasn’t happened,’ she began.

Lauren then thanked fans ‘all over the world’ for the ‘overwhelming’ outpouring of support she’d experienced.

‘I really wish that he knew how loved he was, that he knew the impact he had on so many people,’ Lauren told fans.

Lauren said that she and Jock had ‘worked hard’ on his social media but she did not know what would be ‘appropriate’ to share on his Instagram account after his death.

‘He had behind the scenes photos and interviews from MasterChef, books, a fashion range, he’s got spirits ageing in a distillery in Tasmania’ she explained, becoming visibly emotional.

‘He’s got a TV show he filmed in Italy last year with the family’ Lauren continued, before adding that she would run polls on social media to deem what fans want to see posted going forward.

Jock’s MasterChef co-star Andy Allen was quick to reply in the comments, writing: ‘Love Jock, love you and love the family’.

British pastry chef Darren Purchese also chimed in, ‘You are amazing – sending you lots of love’.

There were additional messages of support from Matt Moran, Love Island’s Anna McEvoy and Mahalia Barnes.

Jock was laid to rest in a private funeral in Sydney in May, surrounded by 200 family and friends.

Lauren paid a heartbreaking tribute to the celebrity chef during the intimate funeral service at a small Sydney chapel.

She was among the pallbearers who led the close-knit group of mourners into the chapel to celebrate his life, and embraced Zonfrillo’s fellow Masterchef judge Andy Allen before the pair carried in his coffin with four other men.

Zonfrillo’s coffin was covered with the Royal Banner of Scotland and adorned with white orchids.

The Royal Banner was a nod to the chef’s Scottish heritage. He was born and raised in Glasgow.

There wasn’t a dry eye as Lauren delivered a brave and emotional eulogy, describing the late chef as her other half.

‘We are two halves that found each other at the exact moment in life when we were ready,’ she said.

‘We were ready for that big love to live a life of adventure, to become parents together, to imagine extraordinary things and to actually make them happen.’

Zonfrillo’s daughter Ava added: ‘It goes without saying that at the heart of everything you did was family.

‘And one of the hardest things to accept is that you won’t be here to see ours grow.’

The media personality was scheduled for several publicity engagements for season 15 of MasterChef when he died suddenly.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal that when the police entered the hotel room to conduct a welfare check, officers believed that Zonfrillo had died of natural causes and didn’t find anything that suggested otherwise.

There was also no drug paraphernalia found in the hotel room, sources said.

In the wake of the tragic news, Zonfrillo’s fellow Masterchef judges Melissa Leong and Andy Allen pulled out of all media appearances to promote the cooking show’s return.

The season premiere was rescheduled to Sunday, May 7.

Zonfrillo is survived by his third wife, Lauren, and his four children: grown-up daughters Ava and Sophia, from his first two marriages, and six-year-old Alfie and two-year-old Isla, with Fried.
