Joey King strips down for bikini spread and reveals she started therapy for the first time

The Kissing Booth star Joey King stripped down to a $105 Peony ‘Sunday Holiday Balconette’ bikini top for a swimwear spread captured by photographer Angelo Sgambati.

The 22-year-old Emmy nominee paired the gingham underwire top with matching pants, Giuseppe Zanotti heels, and a Jennifer Behr headband selected by her loyal stylist Jared Eng.

Hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos coiffed Joey’s brunette mane while her usual make-up artist Allan Avendaño made sure she was ready for her close-up.

‘I actually just started therapy in quarantine. I’d never, ever done it before,’ King revealed in her Byrdie cover story on Tuesday.

‘And not because I didn’t think I needed it, I just wasn’t ready. To talk about yourself to someone you’ve never met, I think you’ve gotta be ready for that.’

Instead of FOMO (fear of missing out), the former child star developed a case of FOGO (fear of going out) during the coronavirus pandemic.

‘I’ve become much more introverted over the past 20 months or so. I have zero FOMO anymore,’ Joey explained.

‘I think I just like myself better now, so I don’t need to have plans all the time to feel inner peace and joy, you know?’

King cryptically added: ‘I went through a lot of weird, personal relationship-with-my-body, medical stuff.’

To get her through the tough times, the Los Angeles native would play Mario Kart and ‘scream into a pillow for 45 seconds.’

‘It’s literally as therapeutic as [a] five-minute meditation,’ Joey noted.

‘I take a shower, shove myself in an ice bath, and then I am miserable while I’m doing that. But then I get out and sleep like a goddamn baby.’

King said she never makes five-year plans because she’ll ‘never be happy’ with the result.

‘Either you’ll reach that goal and then just be thinking about the next one, or you won’t reach that goal, and then you’ll be miserable forever,’ the Nailed It! guest star explained.

In July, Joey made history as the youngest person to ever sign a first-look deal with the streaming giant through her production company All the King’s Horses.
