John Bishop lands his own Saturday night comedy show on ITV… promising ‘the hottest names in film, TV, sport, and music’


John Bishop has landed a Saturday night comedy show on ITV.

The comedian will front The John Bishop Show, which will see him interview ‘the hottest names in film, TV, sport, music and more in front of a live studio audience’.

Co-produced with So Tv, the team behind The Graham Norton Show on BBC One, the show will also feature stand-up from John and other comics.

John, 54, told The Mirror: ‘We’ve been discussing making a Saturday night show for ITV for a while and I am so glad that we are finally going to be doing it.

‘We want it to be up to date and topical, whilst also fitting the energy and fun that Saturday nights on ITV is known for.’

The show has been commissioned for six episodes and will start when he completes the arena tour he’s currently on.

ITV Head of Entertainment, Katie Rawcliffe said: ‘The John Bishop Show is the perfect Saturday night fix; celebrity tales, hilarious stand-up comedy and showcasing new global talent.

John has fronted similar shows during his career – hosting John Bishop: In Conversation With… for W from 2016-2018.

The series saw him chat to big names, one-on-one, speaking to the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Russell Brand, Mel C, Louise Redknapp, and Davina McCall.

He also fronted another ITV series – The Nightly Show – in 2017.

The short-lived series ran for eight weeks and featured a different presenter per week.

John hosted the second week, while the likes of David Walliams and Dermot O’Leary also took on the role.

The show was met with negative comments from viewers, accusing it of trying to emulate the format of late night chat shows in the US. It was not renewed for another season.
